Abstract

This book addresses a question that has become central in contemporary democracies: how to regulate a lasting pluralism of convictions, identities and ways of life, in order to make a peaceful civic life possible? Its ambition is not to close the debate on secularism with yet another slogan, but on the contrary to de-ideologise it, to make it more explicit, more shareable and more open to discussion in the common space.
